Jules was first launched in December 2024 under Google Labs. Then in May 2025, it was opened for beta testing at the I/O developer event.

Kathy Korvek, a product director at Google, says that Jules received a very good response in the beta phase. Improvements were made based on a lot of user feedback – and now this tool has been publicly launched.

What does Google say about privacy?

Google has clarified that if a code repository is public, its data can be used to train AI. But if the repository is private, none of the data will go to Google.

What did Google learn from the beta phase?

Thousands of developers used Google AI Coding Tool Jules when it was in beta. This led to more than 1.4 lakh code improvements.

Based on initial feedback, Google added new features such as deep integration with GitHub, multimodal input support, and the ability to reuse pre-built setups.
