New York Times Games has launched a new digital logic puzzle game ‘Pips’ for the first time ever. Till now New York Times has been famous for its word games like Wordle and Connections, but this new game brings a refreshing change to the company’s portfolio.

What is New York Times Pips Game?

‘Pips’ is actually a logic puzzle based on dominoes. Here, the player’s task is to arrange the domino tiles properly on the game board. There are different conditions on each section – like equal (=), different (≠), bigger (>), smaller (<), or adding up to a specific number. When all the conditions are met, the puzzle is solved and a satisfying “You did it!” message appears on the screen.

How to play?

  • Drag and Drop: Drag the dominoes onto the board.
  • Rotate: You can rotate them 90° with a single tap if needed.
  • Fulfill the Condition: Fulfill the condition of every colored part on the board.
  • Puzzle Complete: When everything fits correctly, the game automatically tells you that you have completed the level.

Why is this game special?

NYT Games team head Jonathan Knight says that “Pips” gives players a nostalgic feeling because it is based on dominoes, but it also has the fun of new thinking and logic puzzles.

  • This is the first NYT game to feature Drag-and-Drop.
  • Easy, Medium and Hard level puzzles are available daily.
  • An interactive ‘How to Play’ guide is also present, so that new players can learn easily.

Launch Celebration

To celebrate the game’s launch, Pips, a popular Brooklyn cafe, will be hosting a special event from August 28 to 30. Visitors can play the puzzle and enjoy free cocktails.
